Also offers sessions in conversational Greek
Over the course of 25 years, Maria has worked with children and families across some of the most varied and demanding settings in speech pathology — from early intervention and schools to hospitals and private practice. That breadth of experience shapes everything she does, giving her a deep, well-rounded perspective that she brings to every child she works with.
At the heart of Maria's practice is a holistic view of the child. She doesn't see communication in isolation — she sees the whole person, including their environment, their relationships, and the individual strengths they bring. This means working not just with the child directly, but closely alongside families, teachers, and Allied Health Assistants to create consistency between home and classroom. Parent and educational staff training is something Maria places particular value on, believing that the support a child receives between sessions is just as important as the session itself.
"The best outcomes for children come through connection and teamwork."
Maria has a particular interest in supporting vulnerable children, including those in Out of Home Care. She understands the unique communication and developmental needs that can arise from complex trauma histories, and works sensitively with carers, case workers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure these children receive coordinated, trauma-informed care. For Maria, this work is both a professional commitment and a personal one.
Her collaborative instinct extends to a wide network of professionals. Maria regularly works alongside paediatricians, dentists, orthodontists, occupational therapists, psychologists, physiotherapists, audiologists, ophthalmologists, maternal and child health nurses, neuropsychologists, lactation consultants, behavioural therapists, social workers, child protection workers, NDIS support coordinators, and Allied Health Assistants. For Maria, this kind of coordinated, multidisciplinary approach isn't optional — it's the standard every child deserves.
Maria's clinical interests span a wide range of areas including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Language Disorder, early language development, articulation and speech sounds, stuttering, feeding, and orofacial myology. She also has particular expertise in multidisciplinary assessment and in supporting the people around the child — parents, carers, and educators alike.
Maria also speaks conversational Greek, warmly welcoming Greek-speaking families who may find it more comfortable to engage in their first language.
With two and a half decades of dedication to her field, Maria brings both deep clinical expertise and genuine warmth to every family she works with. For her, speech pathology has always been about more than communication — it's about connection.
